Is it possible that God lives Millions of Lightyears away in space?

Well the reason I ask this question is because religious people have not been able to tell where God resides. Nor they have been able to show some substantial proof that he exists in the sky. I don't think God has been able to help much the earthquake affected people of Japan. So is it possible he lives Millions of light years away in space? May be that is the reason he cannot help with people's problems, diseases and natural disasters?
