Can you think of any fictional police cartoon characters?

Inspector Maigret of course from the old Georges Simenon novels. Ellery Queen actually starred in his own comic books occasionally in the forties and fifties. Spirou is a Belgian Bellboy/Reporter but he certainly qualifies if Rupert the Bear does. Oh, and the Inspector from the old Pink Panther cartoons as well as Inspector Gadget.
